google nest thermostat E, pressing thermostat ring does nothing. Why does google not help?

Thanks for reaching out and we're sorry to hear about what's happening.

Could you try to restart your Nest Thermostat E by following the steps here? Also, try to remove it from the base and charge it with a USB.

I have tried restarting it, but to do that, I have to be able to obtain settings by pressing the outer ring. That doe not work!! Yesterday, I did recharge it,by connecting it to a USB port. I left it connected for about an hour, but still unable to connect to anything other than the temperature display.

Do you have anything else to suggest? I am wondering if I could disconnect it from the battery, then reconnect it? If I could connect it to the app, I may be able to do something, but I can not obtain the entry code. Is it tied at all to the serial number of the device? I have the original box, so have that.

I have had no luck when trying to copy the QR code.
