Just grasp the display and pull it straight out.

thank you so much  the gas company gave me this thermostat Google nest for free and installed it  but I couldn't get it off the wall and I can't do anything to learn how to use it unless I have the QR code which is on the back but now you helped me figure out how to get it off the wall thank you so much    I've always hated that Google doesn't help people
