low battery using a Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen)

I have read articles about using a USB cord to charge but where do I find the connection?  I have looked at the owners manual and no where does it say there is even one to connect.

Hi crownpt,

Thanks for reaching out here in the community! It seems like your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) has a low battery, and you're having trouble finding the charging port despite checking the manual. No worries, I’d be happy to help with this!

The micro-USB port is on the back of your Nest Learning Thermostat's display. You'll need to gently remove the display from its base to find it. A 30-minute charge is usually enough, but a fully drained battery could take up to 2 hours. For reference, see this article: Nest thermostat USB port.

If your Nest thermostat still shows a low battery after charging it, please confirm the following:

  • Are all thermostat wires securely connected, with no loose or exposed strands?
  • Have you inspected the thermostat's display for any bent connector pins?

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
