I was given a Nest thermostat, which is one of the worst products ever created. I would rip it off the wall, but have to have someone here to put a decent one in. I have searched the forum for help , but the answers are for well heeled tech geeks, so please respond in very clear English.
I cannot get the temps to stay where I want them. I have set the comfort, eco and sleep modes to cool at 73, within an hour it goes back to 86. There are no instructions, no one to ask for help.
I also want the fan to run 24:7 and not have to set a timer.
i found one post that referred to touching the actual thermostat to pull up the Quick view menu… but when I touch the side, all I get it the current settings, and tapping the icons does nothing. Where is the Quick View menu?
I had recent surgery so am on my sofa all day, and it keeps switching to the eco setting, so every couple of hours it goes back to 86. I went away on a trip this summer, set it to be warmer, On my way home I tried to get it lowered, but came home to 86.
i am throwing it out, but it may be a couple of months before I can get a decent one installed.
Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hi @FCS659,
I understand your frustration. Nest thermostats can be tricky, and the instructions aren't always clear. Let's see if we can get this sorted out.
Unfortunately, there isn't a "Quick View" menu on the Nest thermostat. The information you see when touching the side is the current settings.
If you continue to have problems, please let me know so we can provide further assistance.
Best regards,
Josh

Thank you, I will try that until I can throw this crap away. I have been struggling for easily 6 months to get it to work. Poor poor product, and having no customer support is inexcusable

I replied too soon before trying your suggestions….There is no calendar icon on the thermostat. The fan icon on the thermostat doesn’t do anythimg. And specifically, where is ‘auto away’? It’s not on the thermostat and I am truly afraid to touch anything. During the 90+ heat here, I tapped something and it would go below 86…it stuck on eco and would not hold at 73. How do I get rid of it ? I think I got eco to hold for an hour during the night, but it’s still a disaster. Is there a manual online in clear simple English? The help on the home app is useless

Correction … it would NOT go below 86

Hi there!
I completely understand how frustrating that is. Dealing with a thermostat that doesn't work as it should can be incredibly stressful, especially when you're recovering from surgery. I'm here to help you get some relief until you can replace it.
Let's try a few things to see if we can get your Nest thermostat behaving.
First, let's give it a fresh start. Performing a factory reset can often resolve unexpected behavior. Think of it like rebooting your computer – it clears everything and starts anew. I know this might sound complicated, but I'll provide you with the necessary steps to do it.
Second, let's set it up again. This will give you a chance to customize your settings and make sure everything is working as it should. We can turn off Eco mode, which seems to be causing the temperature jumps, and set your preferred temperature.
If you have a Nest Learning Thermostat, there's an extra step. You can check its Nest Sense settings to see if anything is interfering with your desired temperature.
I know these steps might seem overwhelming, but it's worth a shot. Let's tackle this together. I'll be here to support you every step of the way.

Before I touch it, how do I know the difference between the two?

Hi, @FCS659,
Thank you for your response. Based on your description, it seems your Nest Thermostat 2020 has an active schedule, causing the temperature fluctuations and sleep mode behavior.
To clear the schedule, please follow these steps:
Please let me know how it goes.
Best regards,
Ana

But if I clear the schedule, does that not basically turn off my thermostat leaving me in a worse position?

Hi, @FCS659,
Thank you for your reply. Regarding your questions, no, clearing the schedule won't turn off the thermostat. Once cleared, you can set a specific temperature that will remain until changed manually via the Google Home app or the thermostat itself.
Alternatively, you can create a new schedule from scratch. Refer to this article for instructions: Change the temperature schedule.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards,
Ana

BTW it may be a while before I can try some of this.
