@VooPoo

You might have the hardware failure that came to light a couple of years ago where a hardware fault leads to a "W5" error that prevents it from connecting to the internet (https://mashable.com/article/google-nest-thermostat-replacement-w5-error).

This post in this forum says Google Nest does NOT replace Nest Thermostats with defective Wi-Fi chips if the thermostat is past warranty: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Thermostats/Promises-to-replace-defective-wifi-chips/td-...

I'm just another Google Nest customer; my only suggestion is to contacting Support starting here and see what they say: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Hi @VooPoo

Did you manage to get this sorted. We are having exactly the same issues with the same TD00 codes, we aren't even able to type our WiFi password before it says something went wrong. We are in the process of getting a replacement thermostat E from Google however I'm not holding my breath if you new one is not working for you either!

Please can you shed some light if you have gotten any further in setting up your thermostat E

Thanks

Hi @VooPoo , did you get the replacement device OK?  And was it under warranty?  We've just got the same problem, but our device is 4 years old, so not in warranty.  We could really do without spending £200 on a replacement right now!

yes i did get a new one as mine was just in warranty by a month. if this helps turn off 5ghz in router settings and keep 2.4ghz as nest can only connect to 2.4ghs

i found this out by accident if your router has 2.4ghz and 5ghz turn off the 5ghz in router admin page. apparently the nest thermostat can only work on 2.4ghz
