You now have a Brick On The Wall.  Just kidding. Just download the Nest App, log in with the same userID and password you used when you installed the Nest and it will automatically add the thermostat.  From there you can unlock the thermostat using the app.

If you did not set it up, then you will not be able to take ownership and control of that Nest Thermostat. Do you know the person that last installed the Nest thermostat and set up the Nest Account linked to that thermostat? If you do, just have them unlock the thermostat.

Hello folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

I appreciate your help, @CoolingWizard.

@jasm, I have additional steps I need you to do so we can manually reset the thermostat.

  1. Connect the Nest Thermostat display via USB to a computer.
  2. Verify that the Nest Thermostat mounts (appears as an attached drive icon).
  3. If the Nest drive will not mount, restart the thermostat and the computer.
  4. If the Nest drive still won't mount, connect another device to the cable to see if it appears as an installed device.
  5. If it doesn't appear, use a different cable, port, or computer.
  6. If the Nest drive is successfully showing up on your computer, you should see a "Technicalinfo.PLIST file. Please let us know if you were able to locate it and on what operating system of computer you used (ChromeOS, MacOS, or Windows).

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Mark
