nest thermostat keeps cycling the unit after reach set temp. How does that save electric

When my unit hits the temp its set for it go's off. Then 2 min. later it restarts the unit. This no way of saving energy something is wrong I need some help

@Danny46, thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Let me take a look at this for you.

 

What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? What is the power reading of your Nest Thermostat? You may check its Settings > Technical Info > Power (Battery, VOC, VIN, and lIN) if you have the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E, and check its Settings > Equipment > Power (VIN, IIN, PS-*) if you have the Nest Thermostat 2020. Also, a clogged filter might cause a similar symptom. If the air filter is dirty and needs to be changed, replace the air filter. Refer to this article for more details.
