Hello,

 

I have a nest thermostat in a vacation home that I keep set at 50 degrees for the winter. The home experienced a power outage for 3 days. The Wifi has not re-paired with the device (not my worry) but I am curious now that the power is back on should the Nest have the heat holding at 50 degrees again, or do I need to go to the home and turn the heat back on. I cannot find this information in the forums or FAQ's but would like to know before making the long trip to prevent any issues.

The Nest has a backup battery to remember it's settings.  And it should start controlling the furnace again as soon as the power to the furnace comes back on.  The lack of WiFi would concern me, though.  It means you can't check it via your phone.  I would be pretty uncomfortable with thinking everything is fine without being able to verify it though.  It probably is, but....

Thanks. I read somewhere that the backup battery only last a day or two with the power out. I thought it was for the for the Wi-Fi settings but didn't if it was for the temp setting. On a side note I had a mobile hotspot but it had to be rest continually and that's pretty hard to do from 350 miles away
