"Set up" icon doesn't respond - replaced modem

New modem requires "reinstall" for existing Nest Thermo.  Instructions say to tap on "set up" gear icon to connect thermo to wifi, however the setup icon is grayed out and not responding.  I've been all over my "home" app and googled for help but am not finding it.  Probably a simple step I'm missing but not very obvious...  any assistance is appreciated!

You can't change Wi-Fi for the thermostat on the thermostat itself. Try these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favourites or Devices
  3. Select your thermostat.
  4. Tap Settings cog > Device information > Wi-Fi.
  5. The app will walk you through changing the Wi-Fi network.
