signing into NEST on a NEST account when password reset email does not ever materialize

I chose Feedback because there is no appropriate category for my issue.

I have had my NEST thermostat since before 2018. Last week i opened my app and it wanted me to log in.  I never logged out, so I was a bit confused. About 3 years ago this happened and I spoke to a person (which is not an option anymore 😞 ), the person helped me get back in.  Switching to a google account is not an option. I know which email address the account is linked to (because years ago a reset email did show up at this email and I was able to reset). Now I have been round and round on site and boards, etc. with no answer past have NEST send a reset email. Okay, what to do I do when that doesn't work. Help!!!

I understand your frustration with the unexpected login issue you're facing with your Nest Thermostat. Given that you've tried the common steps, such as having the Nest send a reset email, and are still facing challenges, let's explore a few additional options:

 

  1. Before attempting anything else, clear your browser's cache and cookies. Sometimes, stored data can cause authentication issues.
  2. Try accessing the Nest app from a different browser or device to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to one platform.
  3. Access the Nest Web App login using the same credentials. If the app didn't work, this should be able to help you sign in if you're using the right email address.
  4. If the same issue persists, try signing in using a different email address that might be associated with your Nest Thermostat. Also, try both options, "Sign in with Nest" and "Sign in with Google."
