I want to use the thermostat without the app!!!!

This is an automated device that is remotely controlled by a mobile phone, and the customer cannot make any changes to the preset information.

Hi @DGS71 - you should let the engineering team know of this feature request by leaving Feedback in the Google Home app. Google is don’t read every post in this form, but they do read everything in the feedback responses. The more people do that the higher it goes up on the priority list, but I also have a sneaking suspicion. Google is not going to want to de-sync from the home app.

@DGS71, the Nest thermostats are mainly designed to connect to the Nest app or Google Home app to control them remotely, but you can also use them without the Wi-Fi or the app so you can control them manually.

 

For your thermostat, try the steps here:

 

  1. Make sure the thermostat is already installed with the wires.
  2. Open the Google Home App to proceed by adding it to the system configuration.
  3. When you reach the "Choose your Wi-Fi network" part, force close the app to cancel.
  4. On your thermostat, remove the display from the base and take out the batteries for a minute to restart.
  5. Connect the batteries back in and put the display back to its base.
