trying to find the definition of duel fuel and check Gen 3 compatibly. the compatibly chart lists dual fuel as gas or oil.
my system is electric heat pump and electric emergency furnace. will the gen3 work?

Thanks for posting In the community forum, That's a great question, and I'm more than happy to assist you with the compatibility of your system and the Nest Learning Thermostat.
A dual fuel heating and cooling system (also called a hybrid or packaged system) is a combination of a heat pump for primary heating and cooling, and a furnace (usually gas or oil) that provides a second and/or third stage of heating. The Nest thermostat is compatible with these systems and supports up to 2 alternate heat sources. To confirm that your current system is compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat, please share a picture of your current wiring installation.

Yes, your system should work with the Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Gen.
Post a picture of the current thermostat's wiring and I take a look at it.
