wires and jumpers

Hello.  please see the picture of my current system wiring.  i have both a jumper AND wiring for R and RC.  Not sure if nest is compatible or not.  i read elsewhere that you don't need the jumper and to just use R, but that would leave an unused wire going to RC.  Thank you for any advice20221027_140158.jpg

Hi kea,

Thanks for reaching out. You're correct. You don't need to include the jumper when you wire your Nest Thermostat to your system. The Nest Learning Thermostats use an internal jumper between the Rh and Rc connectors. A Nest Learning Thermostat will automatically use this internal jumper if your system needs it.

Thanks,

Edward

Hi Edward,

Thank you for responding.  I finally had a chance to install it.  As you suggested, i just placed the red wire, not the RC (which was also jumped).  The only issue i had was that the nest wasn't detecting a white wire.  i tried to strip and reinsert a few times and just decided to try and install anyway.  It SEEMS like it's working...so fingers crossed.  thank you
