3rd Party Range Extender that plays with Google WiFi

Hi all, I currently have the following set up –

Google Wifi (Gen 1) + Nest Wifi Point

I have recently bought a Lay-Z-Spa hot tub that can be controlled via wifi, however it would appear it is not sophisticated enough to be able to choose the 2.4GHz band, and won't work on 5GHz.

My thoughts were to get a 2.4GHz range extender and place that near to the hot tub so that it chooses that network.

Are there any flaws in my plan? Will non-Google/Nest range extenders work with my set-up, and if so, are there any recommendations?

Thanks, Andrew

It should work, but I'd rather connect the range extender or a dedicated access point by ethernet cable to the Google Wifi puck, rather than using wireless between them.

And give a different name to the SSID broadcasted by this device, so that other devices not needing the dedicated 2.4ghz SSID doesn't connect to it.

I don't work for Google.

Thanks, I will try that. Our house is CAT6 cabled and there is an Ethernet socket in the room where I propose to have the extender.
