Can I hide ssid from being seen

I bought 3 of the google WiFi mess ac1200. I would like to create a guest network that the ssid can not be seen and does it only use the 2.4 mhz network, trying to connect Wyze products and from what I understand they only use the 2.4 wifi

Hello @Jb2022

Hiding SSID is no longer a recommended practice (it used to provide some improved security, but that is no longer the case, so hiding it just makes connecting devices you want to connect even harder). In short, SSID hiding is not supported by Google/Nest WiFi.

The guest WiFi network will support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands just like the main network. Most 2.4GHz-only devices will connect to this without disabling 5GHz (which isn't supported at this time), though – I have at least a dozen 2.5GHz-only devices connected to my system. However, some 2.4GHz-only devices were designed with poor assumptions about how modern home WiFi networks operate (common name for both bands), and they can be more difficult to get connected. I don't know if Wyze devices fall into that category or not. If so, there are some tricks you may be able to use to get them connected (like moving far enough away from your system to force your phone onto the 2.4GHz band just long enough to configure the new device).
