Cannot connect to 6g band on the nest wifi pro

Hi there,

I recently bought the the 3 pack nest wifi pro, all other went pretty fine, except that I cannot connect my iphone13 pro to the 6g band. As I search for the spec of wifi on iPhone 13 Pro, it has Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax) with 2x2 MIMO on, meaning if the router support 6g band, it should connect to it?

However, no matter how close I put my phone to the router, the band is showing me 5G all the time. Do I miss anything to enable the 6g band? I already turned on the WAP3, but I still fail to connect to 6g.

Let me know how to fix this issue, thanks.

Yes, WiFi 6 = 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz, with enhancements to enable channel width, bandwidth, and throughput improvements.

Wifi 6E = 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz above enhancements, PLUS 6 GHz

The only Apple device that supports Wi-Fi 6E (6 ghz Wi-Fi) is the new M2 iPad Pro

If you check the details of the saved network on your iPhone, it probably says it's connected with WPA2? A client will jump between 2.4ghz, 5ghz and 6ghz, but not between WPA2 and WPA3. And 6ghz requires WPA3.

Solution should then be to forget the saved network from your iPhone, reconnect making sure you use WPA3.

I don't work for Google.

Like River said, unfortunately your phone doesn't support WiFi 6E (6 GHz band). The iPhone 13 Pro supports a maximum of WiFi 6 or 802.11ax (5 GHz bands)

I see, so 802.11ax is a 5G band, I thought it is a Wi‑Fi 6 and should be using 6G band

@seanxiaoxiao, you could reach out to your phone’s manufacturer to confirm if the specific model that you have is capable of connecting to 6 Ghz bands. Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns as we’d love to help out.
