Cannot connect to Google Home App from iPhone when connected to google wifi network

Unfortunately when I am on wifi connection I cannot access any of my google apps from my iPhone. My Google Home app on iPhone says "No Internet Connection". When I disconnected from wifi then I can access everything properly from my iPhone. I have no issues with my laptop. I do have android device and when on primary network it also cannot access any of google apps, but when that devices connects to guest network of my google wifi it works without any issue.

There is something going on with my primary network where I cannot connect to any of mobile devices, but laptops connected to primary network works without any problem.

I am facing the same issue. I've had my google mesh for over 5 years, no issue - composed of 1 Nest Router, 1 Nest Wifi Point, 1 Google Wifi. A few weeks ago, I got notification that the Nest Wifi Point (located in the basement) was disconnected, I did the unplug - wait 30 seconds - plug it back, then no luck. I login to Google Home App, and it tells me that my wifi network is down (even if the devices such as TV etc still have internet connection), so I ignored the notification. This week, all iPads and my iPhone could not connect. Google Home App still tells me my network is down

So I reset all my Google Wifi (router, wifi point) physicall by hard resetting the buttons, logged into Google Home App and added each device manually again, had to reset my SSID and wifi password. All seemed fine. Google Home in my iPhone says network is good, all iPads can connect to wifi

But I did not finish my wifi set up (I had a guest network, want to make the device undiscoverable), and fix the fact that I could not add the 3rd device - my google wifi point - to the network but when I open Google Home in my iPhone, use the linked google account, it gives me an error, and I can't connect.

No android in the house so don't suggest "to use another device" please. also this has been working fine for over 5 years until something broke it.

Hi Kgunda!

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand you were facing some issues with the connection on your iPhone using your Nest Wifi device. To help you  troubleshoot this issue effectively, could you please provide me with the following information:

-What kind of Google Wifi device do you have? (e.g., Google Wifi, Nest Wifi, Nest Wifi Pro)

-How many Google Wifi devices do you have in your network?

-When did this issue start?

-What is the model of your iPhone?

-What is the status of the light on your main router? (e.g., solid green, blinking, red)

-Have you tried any troubleshooting steps already? If so, please describe them.

-Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? (e.g., Comcast, Spectrum, AT&T)

-Have you contacted your ISP about this issue?

-Has there been a recent power outage in your area?

I'm ready to assist you further once I have this information.

Best regards,

Debora

1. I have one Nest WiFi Router, one Nest WiFi point and one Google WiFi point in the mesh network

2. Total of 3 Google WiFi devices? Or do you mean how many devices are connected to the network? Between 9-12 combination of smart watches, iPads/tablets, smart TVs and phones

3. The issue started in January 2025. Nothing has changed since I set up this mesh 5 years ago

4. Model of iPhones - between 12, and 15. Also iPads are affected. Oh there are 2 android devices - also has issues particularly going into YouTube or Gmail

5. We use Verizon Fios and have a quantum gateway router. The WiFi on this router has been turned off, bridge mode enabled. Best wifi router plugs into Ethernet port WAN of Verizon quantum gateway

Troubleshooting done:

factory reset all Google wifi

recreated home, recreated WiFi network

ensured ipv6 and WAP3 enabled in Verizon quantum gateway

It’s been working intermittently lately after this but I keep getting notifications that one Google WiFi point is down, then it will just go back up for no reason. I’ve unplugged and replugged this Google wifi point many times

also used the Verizon app to “fix internet connection” issues when the Google WiFi goes down this also fixes it. Then my kids will yell after a time that internet is down again. I’ve found I have to do this at least 2x a day

Hi @kgunda!

Okay, let's break down those steps for setting up your mesh Wi-Fi network correctly.

  1. Factory Reset Your Network:

Important: This will erase all existing Wi-Fi network settings. Make sure you know the name and password of your current network.

In the Google Home app:

  • Go to "Favorites"
  • Tap "Wi-Fi"
  • Tap "Network Settings"
  • Tap "Factory Reset Network"
  • Wait for the reset:
  • Your routers will begin the factory reset.

Look for the light on each router to change from solid white/orange to pulsing blue/white. This indicates the device is ready for setup.

If a router doesn't change:

Manually reset the router:

  • Locate the reset button (usually a small pinhole) on the bottom of the router.
  • Press and hold the button for 12 seconds.
  • The light will flash yellow, then turn solid yellow.
  • Release the button. The reset process may take up to 5 minutes.
  • The light will flash blue/white when the reset is complete.
  1. Reposition Your Routers:

Change the locations:

  • Experiment with different placements for your routers. For example, if the main router is in your bedroom and the point is in the kitchen, try swapping their locations.

Consider:

  • Place routers in central locations within your home.
  • Avoid placing routers near large appliances (microwaves, refrigerators), mirrors, or thick walls.
  1. Re-add Your Routers to the Network:
  • In the Google Home app:
  • Go to "Devices"
  • Tap "Add"
  • Tap "Google Nest or partner device"
  • Tap "House"
  • The app will detect your routers.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to re-add each router to your network.
  1. Test Your Network:
  • Check for improved performance:
  • Move around your home and test the Wi-Fi signal strength in different areas.
  • Try a different point: If the issue persists with the first router swap, try using a different point device as the main router.
  1. Contact Your Internet Provider (if necessary):

If issues continue:

  • Ensure your routers are working correctly.
  • Contact your internet service provider to rule out any issues with your internet connection or modem.

Important Notes:

  • Network Name and Password: Remember the name and password of your existing Wi-Fi network before resetting.
  • Patience: Rebooting and reconfiguring your network may take some time.

I hope these instructions help you optimize your mesh Wi-Fi network!

Best Regards,

Debora
