So frustrating. I have 1G of centurylink service and a centurylink provided modem (C4000BG). I followed all the various instructions I could find from reboots, reset to factory, and the most common being switching my WAN to “transparent bridging”. After I do that, I lose internet, but I’m not able to connect with my google Wi-Fi. It says it can’t connect. What’s going on? Thanks.

Jeff,
No response on this site, so that was a little frustrating. I called OnTech ($110) to come out and set it up for me and the Tech struggled a bit, but it turned out that the Google Home app on my phone was the issue; it wasn't working right (who in the heck would of known that?!). So, we downloaded Google Home to the iPad and it was plug and play after that, and my Google Home app on my iPhone worked without having to reload (?!?). There was no need to do any of the other stuff suggested on this site for connecting to Centurylink fiber (1G). So, my contribution to this site is if you have a similar connection problem...., load the Google Home app on another device and try it from there. Good luck!

Thanks for following up, LittleG. Sorry it was a confusing situation for you, but I'm glad you were able to get everything working fully and on both devices.
If there's anything else you need here, let me know. If we're all set, I'll mark this as resolved soon.
Thanks.

littleG,
been struggling since the fiber install yesterday. Did you use the transparent bridging mode?

Eth,
No. I didn’t need to do any of that. I spent hours doing the transparent bridging and all that jazz until I gave up and called the mobile tech. He didn’t do any of that and when we found out it was my phone app, we switched to the iPad, then it was essentially plug and play.
good luck!

I was in his hip pocket the whole time, so I saw everything.

I’d reset your centurylink modem AND the google nest to their factory settings and start over. The tech did that first thing.
