Connection Issues WiFi Router

NotsoTechyGurl
Community Member

My service provider is xfinity Comcast. I am trying to set up a mesh network with 1 Router and 2 Points. I have plugged in the Router and connected it to the xfinity Router.  When I attempt to add the new Router to Google Home, it says it is unable to join the setup.  Other non-google devices used to let me pop out to my WiFi list and select the Setup and pop back into the App. However, if I pop out of the Home setup, it stops the process. I am at a loss for what to do.  I am not close to having the knowledge to understand some of the suggestions in replies, so I’m reaching out for a little help. Thank you kindly.

From searching, it looks like Nest Wifi should work with Xfinity Comcast. You might have to put the modem in bride mode first though.

Maybe this tells you what you need to know:

---

And since you are using iOS for the setup process:

Make sure the device used for the setup process with the Google Home app have no VPN enabled/ connected; not any 3rd party product, nor the "Apple iCloud Private Relay" ( https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212614 ).

Make sure the Google Home app has been granted permission for "local network access" ( https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/7172427?hl=en ).

Make sure that proxy is set to disabled while connected to the Nest Wifi network ( https://www.expressvpn.com/support/troubleshooting/disable-proxy-safari/#ios ).

IPv6 on Nest Wifi has caused strange problems lately. One thing to try is to disable IPv6 ( https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6361450?hl=en ), add new Nest Wifi unit, then leave IPv6 off or enable it again.

One last trick might worth trying:

I don't work for Google.
