Converting old Google wifi router into a point

Junderwood
Community Member

We had a gen 1 mesh setup (1 router, 2x points).  We just got a new nest mesh setup (also 1 router, 2 points).  The newer router connected easily to the old points, but the system doesn’t want to allow the old router to act as a point anywhere in the house.

Can the old router be used this way?

if yes, how?

thanks

Mixing different Google/ Nest Wifi devices is indeed supported:

All pucks you want to add as mesh points to your new Google Home home network, be it Google Wifi, Nest Wifi add-on point or Nest Wifi router, must be factory reset (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6246619?hl=en) unless brand new and unused, then added to your existing network through the Google Home app (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9548301?hl=en).

I don't work for Google.
