Devices getting disconnected randomly and had to join the guest network

Let me share our current setup. I have Nest wifi as the main "router" and I have 2 wifi points consisting of another Nest wifi router and a google wifi router.

I also have Ring cameras and door bells, they were connected to my primary wifi network. I never had a guest network.

Recently, I had one of the ring device (Ring floodlight cam wired plus) drop out of the network. I tried to connect to the wifi but the ring setup process kept failing. I created a guest network and tried to connect the ring device to guest network and it worked fine! Few days later, I had another ring device (Ring floodlight cam wired plus) dropped out of network and I had the same issue connecting it back. Then I joined it to the Guest network, it worked.

Today, I had my smart TV drop out of the network and you guessed it, I had to do the same thing.

Does anyone know what is going on?

More additional information.

1) I used the right wifi password for the primary network and my guest network is also protected by password

2) I also found that the ring devices I added to guest network bounced back to primary network after few days

Hi bpans,

Thanks for posting ― let's see what's going on.

Are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? How many devices are dropping from the network? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
  2. Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
  3. Set a custom DNS at 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
  4. Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
  5. If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Mel

Hello Mel thanks for the response. Before I try out the above steps, let me share answers for your questions.

1) I use Spectrum modem but no wifi router

2) So far I have had 5 devices dropped (2 laptops, 2 ring flood light security camera plus, 1 Samsung smart tv). When I tried to connect them to the primary network, it would never connect so I connected them to guest network. Since then, I see one of the ring camera joined back the primary network and it's working.

3) In the google home app, I see one unnamed device which is paused and total 17 devices connected at this time (including devices in primary and guest network). I have seen the number grow up to 22 (when I use other devices).
