Does Nest Wifi Pro Support Google Workspace Accounts?

LesBell

A simple question - I hope I can get a straight answer.

For many years, I have run a Google Wifi network for our home, from which we run a couple of businesses using Google Workspace domains, Google Cloud Services, etc. We run everything in our lives using Google Workspace accounts, including the Google Wifi setup.

I am aware that many - not quite all - Nest-branded devices, such as doorbells, cameras, etc. do not support Workspace accounts, and so I installed Reolink hardware, which does support Google Workspace.

We already use Google Home to manage many devices, including Google Wifi. As a direct descendant of the original Google Wifi, does Google Nest Wifi Pro also support Workspace accounts? Or should I just switch to Ubiquiti and write off Nest and Google yet again?

Best,

--- Les

Hi @LesBell!

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand your concern about Google Nest Wifi Pro's compatibility with Google Workspace accounts, especially given your extensive use of Google services for both personal and business needs. I'm happy to help you!

You can use a Google Workspace account to set up your Nest Wifi Pro devices in the Google Home app. However, please keep in mind that some Google Home app features are not available for Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) accounts. To access all Google Home app features available in your country, you need to link a personal Gmail account instead.

Your thoughts are valuable to us as we're always working to improve the Nest experience. Please share your thoughts directly with our development team using this feedback form. Your input will help us prioritize features and better serve our diverse user base.

If you have any questions or need additional help, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Best regards,

Debora

Thank you for that response! I thought that, as a descendant of the original Google Wifi, the Nest Wifi Pro would be managed via the Google Home app, but I needed confirmation before making such a significant expenditure (we need 4 access points).

Believe me, I understand about the limitations of Nest products with Workspace accounts - it's been a significant pain point for me, and it indicates a serious lack of strategic thinking at Google. The microbusinesses and SME's that are a large part of the Workspace market also have security and surveillance needs, and Google seems unable or unwilling to service them. As a security and privacy professional, I also understand there are privacy concerns should the PII of employees of enterprise Workspace customers be accessible to employers. But this is an opportunity to be addressed - not a problem to be thrown repeatedly into the 'too hard' basket. It's certainly not a concern when, as in the case of our household, all the users are the enterprise (in fact, two Workspace domains).

Thanks again for your response,

Best regards,
