Hello,
My device is keeping using the Google wifi router while there's a Google wifi access point closer. How could I force the device to use a given access point instead?
Thank you in advance!
Regards.

Hello @Rubb
WiFi client devices decide which access points to connect to (and when to switch). Google WiFi does provide some extra information that can help clients make better decisions, but not all clients pay attention to that. It sounds like your device is one that doesn't. You may be able to get it to re-evaluate which access point to connect to by disabling and re-enabling its WiFi interface briefly, or just power cycling the whole device (if it's a smart TV, though, you may have to pull the wall plug for a few seconds – turning it off may not be enough).

Been having similar issues since replacing modem a few days ago. Factory resets galore, swapping router and wifi point to obtain new address. Thought was ISP modem's firewall was probably causing the issue so recommendation from support was to to purchase new modem. Purchased new modem and still no device is connecting to second wifi point. Mesh test states good connection and some devices lose service all together despite being right next to second wifi point. What are we missing?

Hey, PH_Stephen.
Sorry for the issues you're having. So before changing out your modem, you didn't have any issues at all, or were there some issues present? Does this current modem also have built-in WiFi capability, or is it a standard modem?

Hey Jeff- No issues at all. New modem does not have built-in WiFi. However - editing this post because although mesh test good to wifi point, I just tried a hardwire from laptop to wifi point and unable to access internet. I am able to access when I hardwire to other primary router.

Thanks.

Hi, PH_Stephen.
It's been a while since we've touched base on this. Have you been able to make any further progress on this? I'll be happy to pick things back up and work with you on it if you're still seeing the same troubles. Let me know if there's been any change.
Thanks.

We had to go buy a new Wi-Fi mesh system to get it to work. So - bought a new modem first per google support recommendation which did not resolve the issue and then bought Arris tri band Wi-Fi mesh system to replace google Wi-Fi.
