I have Google Mesh (NOT Nest) with four nodes and an ARRIS modem (SB6190). Both are 3.5 years old and I get Blast 200Mbps Xfinity Internet. My problem is physical coverage (100-year old 3,000sf house with plaster walls and a detached garage apartment). Would I benefit from connecting a router to my modem, and if so, how do I find one that is compatible with Google Mesh (and what specs should I look for)?
Appreciate any useful suggestions, but telling me to scrap my system and start over is not what I'm looking for at this time.
Thanks.

Relevant doc here:
You could add more Nest Wifi or Google Wifi pucks, but more is not neccessarily better.
If you choose to add more pucks, I'd buy a Nest Wifi router (more powerfull hardware and faster wifi) as the primary puck. But this requires you to factory reset your network and set it up from scratch. If you use the same network name (SSID) and password, your devices will reconnect by themselves.
For the best performance, you can also consider to use wired backhaul, which means communication between the pucks travels over ethernet cable.

Thanks for the response. Will the Nest router work with the older Google pucks?
Not sure I'm up to the task of factory resetting my network from scratch, but I suppose I could Google it or find someone to help me. I'm only semi-tech saavy.

Waiting on a Google Nest router (only) that I ordered. Will connect it to my modem and use the puck now connected to the modem elsewhere. Will update when it arrives and I have a chance to set it up. Thanks for checking.

Now I’m in a big mess. Got the router and tried setting it up. Tried deleting home app, resetting the router to factory settings, rebooting the modem, all several times. Router can’t connect. Now I can’t even get back to my old system and have no WiFi. Could really use some hand-holding.

What errors do you get if any?
Have you tried the Google Home app, same Google account, from a different iOS, iPadOs or Android device?

It sees the router and attempts to set it up, but then says it can't connect to the device (router). I was able to reverse gears and re-setup the existing Google mesh with the old puck plugged into the modem instead of the Nest router.

Also, I deleted the Google Home app from my iPhone and reinstalled it from the app store, but got the same results.

Hi guacdaddy,
Thanks for the update. Did you reset the network on the Google Home app before setting up the Nest Router? Also, what is its light status?
Thanks,
Edward

This is guacdaddy. The system forced me to create a new name.
I'm frustrated that I can't make any progress with this community. I really need someone to walk me through the process. The back and forth questions that take days to resolve are too cumbersome. Thanks for continuing to reach out, but I remain unresolved and frustrated.
