For the past month, my Google AC1200 router loses connectivity every day (in the morning in fact) and needs to be power cycled. This is very disruptive. If I cannot get this resolved I will need to return due to being defective. Please help.

Try a factory reset and set up from scratch. Reuse the network name (SSID) and password, then devices should reconnect by themselves.
