My Google Wi-Fi network has been working fine for a couple of years but this morning it crashed. I did the usual power cycles/restarts and it would work for 1-2 minutes before crashing again.
After lots of troubleshooting (including factory reset of the entire network), I've isolated the issue to the router being connected to an unmanaged ethernet switch. When disconnected from the ethernet switch, the wi-fi network works great. However, when I connect the router to the switch after about a minute the whole wi-fi network crashes – no devices can connect; however, the router still displays it's light blue/teal status light.
I've tried with multiple ethernet cables and multiple ethernet switches. The confusing part is that nothing in my setup has changed, it just stopped working out of nowhere. I am wondering if maybe a firmware update happened overnight that broke this. I've heard this is an issue for others, but can't wrap my mind around why it stopped working out of nowhere. Are there any known fixes or workarounds? For now I'm stuck with wi-fi only and no wired access, but that's less than ideal for a product that's not really that out-of-date.
