Google Wifi with 900 internet connection - cant get full speed via ethernet

HI - before i spend any money wanted to  be sure. 

I have upgraded to 1000/115 FTTP connection from a 330/50 connection. 

When i speed test from google home i am only getting 555 down but my full upload speed. - if i test from a hard wired laptop i get about the same.

Just dug out the old router that came with my connect and plugged it in and if hard wired i get the full speed. 

IS there a limit on the max internet speed the old google wifi pucks can handle - my hard wired machines go back to the main puck and a switch and all my 4 pucks are hardwired -So dont think any of that is causing my issue 

Is it time for a upgrade or am i missing a setting or something

When your network is so fast, it makes no sense to have any preferred activities enabled. I'd start by disabling that.

There is also some built in automagic QoS mechanism behind the scenes, so raw benchmark numbers isn't always representative of actual performance. But it's too bad this isn't exposed to us in any way.

There is also a setting to prioritise devices. Make sure no devices are stuck in priority mode.

What could also help is replacing at least the main point with a Nest Wifi router, which has more performant hardware.

I have 1/1gbps and get around 900mbps up and down when speedtesting from a wired device behind my primary. I'm happy with that, even though I might get even more numbers if using something else. But the stability and ease of use that 2x Nest Wifi routers in wireless mesh provide me is worth a lot to me.

Thanks I see the nest wifi is on sale at amazon. I'll get one and see if changing the main unit with it helps.

I’ve got a new Nest Wi-Fi router, I tried looking for some instructions online but they are not overly clear.

what do I do with my current google wifi pucks. Before I get up the Nest wifi router?

do I need to factory reset them all? Then they will show as new devices?

Changing main unit involves reseting all units and set them up from scratch.

I'd start by setting up the new main unit, then factory reset it once it has updated itself and rebooted. Just to make sure you are starting fresh.

OK it is better but not perfect, after setting up I am getting 810. Which is about 100 less then if I use my BT router supplied. - it's odd, you would think hard wired the router would not be the bottle neck.

Problem is now, I can't re setup any of my Google wifi pucks. They all are not detectable. I tried resetting them again using the button on the back with no luck.

OK getting there - they just needed a second hard reset with the button. Ones still giving me trouble. Buy I'll leave it over night to settle.
