Google router (2019)

Not sure about those categories, sorry. Bought Google router in 2019. It's still working okay but I'm planning on upgrading my modem and I always replace both at the same time. But Google store isn't offering the same router now, the small round white one. I'm too lazy to climb under stuff to get the name and model, sorry. Are those discontinued?

Hi Rocksister,

Based on your description, it seems you most likely have the original Google Wifi router, the small round white one released in 2019. Yes, that specific model has been discontinued. However, Google still offers other mesh router options:

  • Google Nest Wifi: It replaces the original Google Wifi and comes in a pack of one router and one point. You can add additional points separately.
  • Google Nest Wifi Pro: This is the latest and most powerful option, designed for even faster speeds and wider coverage. It also comes in a pack of one router and one point, with additional points available.

Choosing the right option depends on your needs and budget:

  • If you're happy with your current coverage and speeds, Google Nest Wifi might be a good upgrade. It's more affordable than the Pro version and offers similar features to the original Google Wifi.
  • If you need more coverage or faster speeds, consider Google Nest Wifi Pro. It's more expensive, but it offers better performance and range.

Here are some resources to help you decide:

Hopefully, this information helps you decide on the best upgrade for your needs!

Let me know if you have any other questions about Google Wifi or your options.

Best,

Dan

Thanks, Dan! I bought a newer Google router elsewhere. I have a really small house and live alone so the mesh system seems like overkill for me. I appreciate the information and the ability to get answers to all things Google. Have a good one!

Hello again,

I'm glad I could help, and it's fantastic that you found a suitable router option for your needs! A mesh system might be overkill for a small house, so choosing a single router was a smart decision.

Remember, I'm here for anything Google/Nest Wifi-related, so don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions in the future. Have a wonderful day!

Cheers,

Dan
