Hardwiring multiple wifi point trouble.

Cincinnatiminds

I am having trouble connecting 4 Google wifi points together via lan connection. Wifi points will come up and work wired after a full power cycle of my network, but after an unspecified amount of time some wifi points will randomly disconnect. All of my points are gen1 (the ones powered by usbC.)

My current configuration is fiber Ont-netgear router(wifi off)-linksys switch-all 4 Google's off the switch.

I THINK the solution is netgear-primary google-switch-google wifi points. I'm going to try it, but the disconnection problems vary in time from an hour to a week.

I am looking forward to y'all's input, thank you

You got the solution figured out. Modem, then primary puck, then the unmanaged switch, then the rest of the pucks.

Hey Jeff, thanks for reaching out.

I have fixed the issues with some of the pucks dropping, they are all white and good, but I'm having another issue. My speeds stink now. I have 500mb FTTH, and before I fixed the issue and when it worked, I was getting those speeds in rooms with the pucks. Now I'm getting ~100. Is there something I missed?

Hi Cincinnatiminds,

Sorry about those speed issues. Sometimes when you get your setup going, speeds can vary a bit as the mesh system learns how to best optimize your setup, but that sounds pretty extreme. Now that it's been some time, are you still seeing the lower speeds, or have things normalized a bit? Let me know where things stand for you.

Thanks,

Jeff
