How many IP adresses for a Google Wifi accesspoint / network

PatrickJ

Hi everyone,

I’m a bit puzzled here. I have a Google Wifi network with 1 main router and 3 additional accesspoints, all of them wired with a ethernet cable. I’m monitoring my network with a ‘firewall’ directly connected to one of the Google accesspoints. The firewall keeps track of all devices joining the network with associated ip- / mac-addresses etc.. I see all 4 Google Wifi points nicely listed in the firewall app with the ip-address coresponding with the one in the Google Home app.

However, I see additional Google accesspoints popping up in the firewall, with different ip-adresses I don’t recognize. Any idea where these ip-adresses come from / how many ip-adresses a Google Wifi accesspoint registers in the network? (e.g. accesspoints for 2.4/5.0ghz network??)

Many thanks!

The Google Home app also lists connected devices (MAC and IP), and you can go to each puck and see what IP they have.

An additional "firewall product" connected behind the primary Nest Wifi makes little sense, sounds redundant.

You can try to nslookup and ping those IP addresses to see if they respond and what they are?

I don't work for Google.

Thanks for checking Jeff! I'm actually not looking for the connected devices, I'm looking for the number of IP addresses a single Google WIFI puck creates, e.g. does the 2.4GHz band have a separate IP address as the 5.0GHz band and if so, how would I be able to see?

Reason I'm asking is that on top of the IP address I can see in the GH app for each WIFI puck, I see additional IP addresses for "Google WIFI devices" in my network that I'm not able to relate back to any puck.

Many thanks!

Hi, PatrickJ.

The points should have a single IP address. Here's how you can check them, however.

  1. Open the Home app
  2. Tap on Wifi devices
  3. Tap on the specific point you want to check
  4. Tap the gear icon to see it's IP address which is listed uner Wi-Fi Information

For 2.4GHz and 5GHz, the IP address will be the same.

Thanks.

Hey, PatrickJ.

Any chance that you were able to see those IP addresses and find what you needed there? If you need anything else on that, just let me know.

Thanks.
