Google Nest does not let us install our Google Nest devices without a QR code or Setup Code. Why doesn't every Google Nest device come with a printed card that says something like the following?

Save this QR Code and Setup Code!

This QR Code and Setup Code may be essential for you to continue using your Google Nest device in the future,

should you ever need to reconfigure or reinstall your device.

Note: QR code and Setup Codes have been known to fade or peel off of Google Nest devices.

Since your Google Nest device is worthless without this QR code or Setup Code,

it is essential that you keep this card in a safe place!

Even better, write down the 6-character Setup Code (along with the serial number)

and keep them in a safe place!

The device can be set up without the QR code. Please follow the below article to assist with gathering the information need to manually set up the device:

Google Nest Wifi device or Google Wifi point doesn't have QR code

This is only good when ur have not done a factory reset. Unfortunately i have done that already.

Hi Angrysince84,

I wanted to hop in on this real fast to see if I could help out here. You can still set your device up with the setup code even after a factory reset. The factory reset process simply returns the WiFi point or router back to the original state to where it was when you purchased it. If you aren't having success with the setup code, you might be putting the wrong number into the app during setup. Make sure that the code you are using is the code that's engraved into the rubber base on your point. It's pretty hard to see, as tjallenfl mentioned. You need good light or a flashlight to make it out if you're in a darker room.

Take another look and see if you can find that code on your device and let me know if that's the code you have been using.

Thanks,

Jeff

The setup code is actually etched into the soft base of the WiFi point. You may need a bright light angled at the base to read it.

Hey Jeff,

Thanks for the insight but as i said, the code is partially erased even the QR met the same fate. Which means I definitely know where are both located. My question is that since i have the original packing & serial number of the device , can Google help with a code so that i can use the AP.

Hey again, Angrysince84,

I understand better. If that's the case, I would contact support directly and let them know what is happening. Here on the forums we don't have quite as many tools as they do. You can contact them here and speak by phone for a quicker resolution: https://goo.gle/31i1U5t.  Let me know if you have any troubles getting in touch with support.

Thanks,
Jeff
