I have two nest wifi routers. The primary wifi router is connected to the modem via the router's WAN port. I have an access point setup in another room, completely wirelessly to create a mesh network. I am trying to use the LAN port of this access point and plug it into my computer for a more reliable connection. However, it only worked momentarily. Now I am unable to access the internet with the wired Ethernet connection to my access point, however it seems to be working with wifi. Is this expected behavior?

It's expected to work via the LAN port. I've used that for years now, with two Nest Wifi routers in wireless mesh.
What cable? I've read that people have had problems with CAT6a cables, but CAT5e has worked. It shouldn't be any difference, both should work, but worth a try.
One can even add an unmanaged switch if you want more ports. I have a Netgear gs108 on my primary puck, with all my media devices and a NAS wired to it.

It is a cat 5e cable. Let me elaborate on my setup of the access point. I have a plud and play Ethernet switch connected to the LAN port of wireless access point. The switch connects to my laptop and a PS4. When I intially connect everything together and restart the access point via the Google home app, everything works perfectly. Both the PS4 and laptop are able to get an IP address from the DHCP pool. The moment I disconnect/hibernate any of the device and try to reconnect after waking it back up, it gets a random self assigned IP address and both the PS4 and the Laptop are no longer able to access the internet via Ethernet. Is this an issue with the switch or am I missing a setting on the access point?

Hard to say what's going on there, but could be the switch. What exact switch brand and model? Does it have STP (spanning tree protocol) or any simular loop detection/ prevention festures?

Here are the specifications:
I can't see anything specific that should conflict with Nest Wifi use.
You say "it get's a random self assigned IP address". What device and what IP address?

So I am checking on my MacBook pro since it's easier to troubleshoot network issues on than a PS4. So when I intially restart the wifi access point both devices have an IP address like:
192.168.86.xx which is within the DHCP address pool. The moment I reconnect one of the devices both the devices end up with a weird IP address like 169.254.88.xx and on MacBook there is a yellow warn sign which says self-assigned IP address. In this state i cannot access the internet since it's unable to get an IP address from the access point.

Unfortunately not. I found an irksome workaround. Everytime I am trying to access LAN from 2 devices I restart the access point from the Google home app and it starts working.
