There was a post in January 2022 that chromebooks were connecting to nest wifi, but unable to connect to the internet. A window pops up saying you may have to sign in. Like you do for some public wifi access points. The solution was to restart the router. This works only for the moment. And is not a permanent solultion. The access connection seems to timeout and the problem occurs again. This is within about 12 hours. Any ideas on fix? I am getting ready to get a new router and not the Nest Wifi. This is unfortunate.

All,
I ended up buying a new google nest router and access point. And the same problem occured with the chromebook. I ended up returning the chrome book.
However, my sons xbox wifi stopped working on the nest about a year ago. Thought it was an xbox issue. So i ran ethernet. With the new Nest, his wifi started working again. Weird.
There are paused devices on the Nest, but the chromebook was not one of them.
No i dont use a VPN.
Yes only chromebooks affected other than the xbox mentioned above.

Thanks for the added info, Itsme1.
Are you getting any errors from the Chromebook, or is it just simply not connecting? Can you see the network as an option to connect to with the Chromebook?
Thanks.

It would connect to the wifi, but would not have internet. It would say you may need to sign in. Like at a hotel.

Ok, so the Chromebook is seeing your network as sort of a public network and trying to sign in? That's some good info for me to go on. I'll start looking into things.
Thanks.
