Nest Wifi Router “Problem Connecting”

Stubsup2

Just received a new Nest Wifi Router and have no issue finding the device in the Home app but upon inputting the wifi name and password, giving Google and Nest permissions, and selecting the room it’s located in, the setup jumps to a “checking for updates” page then immediately changes to a “problem connecting - please check if you’re online” page. On that same page, I have the options “get help” or “done.” Get help takes me to troubleshooting for wifi points (not the router) and done does nothing for me. The router is connected and actually works for wifi and streaming using the existing “setup1234.abc” wifi name and the password on the router itself. The issue is that I cannot add the unit to my home and therefore I cannot control any of its settings or functions, add wifi points, or change the wifi name and password. I’ve tried restarting it, powering on and off the router/modem it’s connected to and everything in between. It is connected to a hybrid router/modem/LTE wifi point since that is literally the only option we have for wifi at our home. Please help.

Can you factory reset the Nest WiFi router? There should be a reset button located on the bottom of the router. Also make sure the modem/router is setup to bridge mode.

The hybrid router I have is a Telekom Speedport Pro, and it does not support bridge mode. I have reset the router multiple times and no dice. I previously had Onhub wifi points connected to the Speedport (one via ethernet and the other 2 via wireless connection) and that worked on the home app with less hassle but was slow. I am hoping that my Google wifi 3 pack will solve my issue when they arrive.

I'm having the exact same issue. Any chance someone has a solution?

So the only solution I found was by setting it up with a different device. Not sure why my iPad could set up the router and my phone couldn’t (maybe because one is connected to cellular while the other isn’t?). Even then, the reception was very poor due to the slow speeds at my house. I previously had the Speedport connected to an OnHub AC1900 then used mesh to connect to 2 other Onhub points. I’m hoping that between talking to Telekom directly and receiving my other Google wifi points I’ll be able to get better signal around the house.

Hey, Stubsup2.

Thanks for letting us know what worked for you to get this resolved. Hopefully everyone else can learn from and apply that. Before I mark this as resolved, is there anything else you might need?

Thanks.
