Nest wifi with two wifi points: today one point not working, won't turn on

Nest told me last night that one of the 'points' wasn't connected. Checked it out this morning and it won't turn on, have unplugged and tried different outlets, etc. Just dead. It's about two years old.

You said "points" which implies that you have more than one. Have you tried switching power cables in case something went wrong with one of them?

My only suggestion would be to plug it in and try holding the factory reset for awhile?

Have you had any power outages/used a generator or any issues with any other sensitive electronics?

Yep, plugged in many times, held reset button a lot, etc; can't get any reaction (lights, pings) from the device at all. No other devices have been affected (and I've got a *lot*) and no generator use recently.

Guess it's just dead; Just wondering if this is common....  Cost of one new 'point' ain't cheap.

Excellent! Yes, it is the cable that is the problem. I had only given the cable a quick look see but after switching and finding the 'point' device working with another cable, I see that the original cable has been nicked/chewed in one place by our new puppy.

Hey, netrc.

I got a puppy a few months back and my Nest Mini power cable got chewed through as a result of those active little teeth. I ended up buying a cable like the one you linked there and it worked great. I just wanted to check in real fast to see if you had any other issues or needs before I mark this one as resolved. If you need anything else, just let me know.

Sweet! Puppies are the worst, ha ha. I am no expert but it looks pretty good, especially with it having a Google logo.

Excellent! Yes, the cable is the source of the issue. I had only given the cable a cursory examination, but after swapping and discovering the 'point' gadget operating with another connection, I discovered that our new dog had nicked/chewed the previous cable in one location.

I'm assuming this will take its place digitforpc
