I've just had my new 500mb broadband installed today. I've read that you need to plug in the Google WiFi into the WAN socket on the router but this is being used. I plugged it in to one of the ethernet sockets on the back and it appears to be working as normal. Have I connected it the right way?

Yes, Google Wifi / Nest Wifi connects to a LAN port on your router not the WAN port. The WAN port on your router is the incoming line from your internet service provider.
