Hi, have no option to enable extended 5.9 GHz, 160 MHz operation within Google Home app here in the UK.
Any advice?
Thanks 👍

Hi @faz1964
I am also missing this option in the Netherlands. 🙄

I thought I was going crazy, it works before you connect the router to the Google Home app, but disappears as soon as you do, making this device useless in its current state

I'm in the UK and have wifi nest pro. Where should i be looking for this option?

Hey folks,
Some older 5GHz-capable devices aren’t compatible with the 160 MHz channel mode that uses the 5.9 GHz band. These devices might experience lower performance or slower speeds, or be completely unable to connect to 5 GHz. If you have trouble with the connection of a device, check if you have the 160 MHz channel setting enabled. To disable the 160 MHz feature:
Keep us posted.

Mel

Well you obviously missed the point that the option to turn it on is not there in the first place to try, before turning it off if it causes problems?

I'm also having the exact same issue in the UK.
10-30-2022 02:24 PM
Yep, no 160MHz toggle for me also (UK), I'm seeing 10% of my internet speeds and now cant enable 160Mhz. I think I'm just going to send the wifi back.

160Mhz channels are available in the UK right? No government bans on it? Seems like Google have just overlooked this. Such a mess
10-30-2022 03:18 PM
My Asus wifi6 router allowed 160Mhz, no issues with bans etc. As you said, it's just a mess from Google. I can see a lot of RMA's incoming.
10-30-2022 03:20 PM
Yeah it's a real shame. I'm looking at options from Asus, linksys and Tp-link now instead.
10-30-2022 03:23 PM
If I don't see no movement on this within the next week, I'm going to have to RMA. Start looking at Asus access points to accompany the router I already have. Will have to stay on WiFi6 but hey, at least it will work.

Gave up on the pile of crap and poor customer service and have returned to you to put in the landfill with all the rest that are getting returned with the promise of never to buy any Nest / Google hardware ever again.
Keep up the poor efforts

RMA in progress as I'm sending them back. Can't be an issue if you don't have the hardware.

Hi, same in France...no option to enable 160Mhz 🤔 (My Eero wifi 6+ allowed 160Mhz...)
11-14-2022 11:30 AM
New firmware update has fixed my speed issue but I still can't see the 160 MHz option. When are you looking to have this fix for European customers
11-15-2022 05:11 PM
Use of the 5.9 GHz band is only allowed in the US, so the option to enable its use is only available in the US.
11-15-2022 11:21 PM
Well my Asus wifi6 router allows 160, ubiquity access points allows 160. Doesn't matter now for me has I have decided to send it back due to poor performance even with the firmware fix. Thanks for the heads that google only allows 160 in the US
12-16-2022 01:37 PM
Hey folks,
Thanks for your patience.
Access to a high-powered 160 MHz channel using the 5.9 GHz range, permitted in the US only, is a key feature on newer routers compatible with 6 GHz, such as Google Nest Wifi Pro.
Check this link for more details.

Mel
