PlayStation 5

I am looking at purchasing the Google Mesh Wi-Fi System with the aim of improving the internet connection to my ps5. Does anyone have any experience with this - like if it’s compatible or if it works well etc? Thanks in advance.

Hello @ASembhi1

The PS5 should work with any of the Google/Nest WiFi products just fine. That said, the number one thing you can do to improve multiplayer gaming is to use Ethernet instead of WiFi to connect your console. Just as an example, I just used the "ping" tool from my Ethernet-connected computer to a raspberry Pi that's connected via both Ethernet and WiFi. For Ethernet, the minimum round-trip time (RTT) was 0.686 milliseconds, the average was 0.78ms, the max was 1.185ms (that was the first one, so ARP was required), and the standard deviation was 0.14ms.

Compare that to pinging the same host via WiFi, and the minimum RTT was 1.197ms, the average was 8.78ms, the maximum was 13.862ms, and the standard deviation was 3.707ms.

Basically, much higher latency, but also much higher variation in latency.

I know running Ethernet can be painful, but I suspect you'll get a bigger improvement from that investment than you would from replacing your current WiFi solution. That said, I don't know what your current WiFi solution looks like, so maybe an upgrade would be a big improvement (but, if so, Ethernet would be an even bigger improvement).

Hello OsamaAbukmail,

Make sure your PS5 is close to your Google Nest Wifi Pro so that it can detect 5 GHz. You may also try to do a sequential reboot of your entire network and see if that helps.

Cheers,
Lovely

nothing of that help , and my PS5 is almost 3 meters away from my Nest WIfi pro point, it can see other 5Ghz , but it can't see my Nest Wifi Pro 5Ghz

Hi OsamaAbukmail,

Kindly try connecting when the PS5 is right next to the Google Nest Wifi Pro. Check out this link for more information.

If the issue persists, let's set up a static IP address for your device.

Keep me posted.

Regards,
Lovely

Non of that works

Can you just report it as a bug!!! Since even my pixel 7 Pro doesnt see the 6GHz , but my Pixel 6 Pro can see it

And after checking some Wifi Analyzer apps, Nest Wifi Pro doesnt broadcast correctly on all channels, and some devices see specific channels

So please stop telling me fail workaround solutions, and report it to the firmware teams to fix it
