Reconnecting Google Wifi point won't finalize setup

Model AC-1304 . I’ve had this connection point for 3 years and just recently lost connection. I removed it from my google home, restored factory settings and started over. Now when it gets to the final step up finishing up the setup, it times out and never adds the point properly to my google home. All existing wifi points and main work just fine. Help?

Hello znsm,

Thanks for reaching out. We'd love to help.

Please make sure that you factory reset your Google Wifi point correctly by following the steps in this article. Clear the cache of the Google Home app before setting it up. If that did not work, try using another phone or tablet for the setup of your device.

Let me know if this helps.

Best,
Lovely

Hi znsm,

Have you tried the troubleshooting steps that I suggested? Let me know if that did the trick or not, so we can try something else.

Cheers,
Lovely

Didn't work unfortunately. Still gets stuck on the "adding wifi point to your network" screen and then does nothing other than play the animation

Hey znsm,

If you have an extra Ethernet cable available, please try connecting the cable to the main point and then to this Google Wifi. Go through the configuration process and check if the issue persists.

Thanks,
Lovely

Hi znsm,

I want to see if you've already tried creating a new Home structure and setting up your Google Wifi point there. If not, go ahead and do so.

Keep me in the loop.

Best,
Lovely

Thank you, I can try but what do I do with all my other devices linked to the existing Home?

I just tried this but setting up a new home says this wifi point has to be connected with an ethernet cable to the main router? I already have a main router set up for my original home. Am I meant to completely disconnect my existing main home point and start over, trying to use this broken wifi point as the main point?

I'm so confused as this was working just fine before power got disconnected to this wifi point. I don't understand why it now fails at the final setup stage.

Ok, I managed to get this to work by not scanning the QR code on setup. A tip from Reddit.

But now, I can't turn off the status light even though I have selected "off" in settings. It keeps flashing blue when in use. Another issue to deal with!! I

Hey znsm,

Kindly force-close the Google Home app and then reopen it before turning off the status light in the settings. You may also uninstall and reinstall the app and power cycle the Google Wifi device.

Kind regards,
Lovely
