Setup not completing for Wi-Fi

Reddfoxx

Went through setup process several times and it continues to stall as it gets to the last step and eventually get the message that “the modem isn’t giving your Wi-Fi point an internet connection”. ..during the process it also says make sure Ethernet cable is connected, says almost done then i get the message above.  I’ve reset multiple times, tried to use each of the 3 different routers as my initial point, verified all settings in google home, and even tried to use an old android device, same result.  Tried doing everything i could find on threads with no luck.  Plugged old router back in and all works fine but was hoping to move to nest.  Any thoughts on what else i can try?

Exact same issue at our house. Internet was slow this morning so we did a restart cycle and reset, and now we can't get it to connect to the internet. Direct connection to the modem works great so we know it's an issue with the nest. We tried multiple devices, uninstall and reinstall the Home app, unplug and wait for 30 minutes etc but gets stuck in the same loop

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with setting up your Google Wifi. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

  • What is the light status of your Google Wifi?
  • Can you access the internet when your device is connected to the temporary setup network of your Google Wifi?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward

Wanted to share the solution that we finally figured out! Restarting our wifi and modem did not work, nor did any of the steps we worked through on a call with a Google specialist. What did work was: unplug the modem from the internet cable, turn it on and let it flush its memory, and then plug the cable back in. We identified this by connecting to the Wifi network and reviewing the code at http://testwifi.here/api/v1/status . We noticed one of the parameters seemed wrong so we googled that issue and that is where we got the suggestion. Everyone who shows some kind of technical inclination should be pointed to that link earlier on in the troubleshooting process.
