Slow upload

Lemons
Community Member

When running speed tests from Google Home or performing any online speed test, I get about 95Mbps in download but only 5 Mbps in upload.

I expect the upload to be in the same order as the download.

The google wifi network is connected to 100/100Mbps internet via fiber, verified by running speed tests on a laptop connected directly to the fiber media converter.

It has not always been like this.
Current sw version is 13729.57.27.

What’s wrong?

I do have the same problem with my Google Nest Router, I find out that when I prioritize one device (this device) will be able to get 100% of the download/upload speed but all the other devices will suffer poor upload speed even when my prioritize device is on idle and does not use any bandwidth.

When no device is prioritized, I get 100% of my download speed and only 60 to 70% of my download speed. I tried bypass Google Nest Router and plug directly into my ISP Modem and I got 100% for download and upload speed.
This test confirm that the Google Router can handle 100% of my bandwidth but somehow this lack of upload speed if block somewhere. I do also have the same firmware version 13729.57.27.

Can you do the same test but prioritize this device first? Does it change the speedtest result for this device?

I’ve tried setting priority to my iPhone but the Google Home app still measures an upload speed that’s 5% of the measured download speed.

I’ve also checked the speed using the Google online speed test and speedtest.net. Both tests give similar result and equal download/upload speed, not like the Google Home test.

I guess that’s the internet speed to/from the google wifi router, and not to/from my device.

Hi, Lemons.

Sorry for the late input here. I wanted to jump in and see if you were still seeing issues with your network speed or if you were able to get this sorted out. If you're still having issues, let me know and I'll be happy to jump in and start helping you out there.

Thanks.

Hi, yes actually I'm still experiencing slow upload speed with my Nest Router.

Like MANY other users are experiencing troubles with their Nest Router see the link below. I'm 100% certain it's a Nest bug like I said from the start.

I'm just waiting for Wifi 6E Router to be more mainstream and I'll certainly change for a non-Google product, because of the lack a respond from Google on this matter is all but painless. Never wanted to acknowledge that there is a flaw in your Nest Router.

I used to love to Google but I'm very very very disappointed on these issues, because clearly, I'm not the only one out there with this kind of frustration regarding the performances of Nest Router.

I was more than happy to help Google find what is the problem with my Nest Router, I spend HOURS trying to do this and to do that blah blah blah (nothing really change). I'm sorry I have lost all hope on this matter. And I'll to nothing more to try to fix this issue.

It will have to be a firmware upgrade. I already waste too much of my time. I'll certainly not recommend the Nest Router to anyone quite the opposite I must say.

Here is the link, with many angry peoples having issues with theirs Google Nest Router.

I disconnected my nest and just stopped using it.  I've already put in far more hours than the router is worth.

Same.  I finally just disconnected the nest and bypassed it for wired connections.
