Speed decrease from modem to Nest Wifi router to Xbox, even though everything is hardwired

Hello! I had to select a platform and an issue category before I could post, so I selected Android and Connectivity Issues. However, my issue is with a wired connection between my Google Nest Wifi router and my Xbox. When I run a speed test in the Google Home app for the router, which is hardwired to the modem, I get over 800 Mbps. When I run a speed test on my Xbox, which is hardwired to the router, I get only 500 Mpbs, even though there are no other active devices on the network. Why would there be such a significant decrease in speed for the Xbox even though it is hardwired?

Thanks!

 Things to check:

  1. Settings need to be updated - Check with Xbox support for port forwarding and optimum network settings. You may need to use port forwarding on the Nest Wifi  or tweak some settings on the Xbox. Also check if IPv6 is enabled as some devices like some Xbox models don't handle IPv6 well even though they say they do. This article should help with the Nest Wifi settings: Network settings
  2. Wrong type or bad cable - You could have the wrong CAT rated cable or a bad cable. Try a different one to see if you get the same results.
  3. Speed test on Xbox - The speed test itself could be the issue. Whether it is how the test is designed, where it connects to, how it processes and determines the results, etc. No two speed tests will ever give you the same results. You can do a speed test from the Home app to a device also by clicking on a device, going to info, and clicking "Check device speed" at the bottom left; it will tell you what the Nest Wifi says the speed it registers to the device.
  4. Xbox hardware or software - Depending on the year, make, and model, the Xbox could have older hardware or software that is resulting in the speeds you get running a speed test on it. It could even be the app. There are a lot of things hardware and software can affect.

Here's an article on how Google's speed test from the app determines speeds: Test your internet speeds
