Trying to use Google Nest Router as point

lannydindau

I have a Nest mesh network and am trying to use a router as an additional point. Every time I try to add it to the network, it initially seems to join the network, but as it is setting up, it tries to start a new network. How do I get it to join my existing network?

@lannydindau have you tried doing a factory reset on the router (using the reset button) before trying to add it in as a point in your existing network?

Hi lannydindau,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Much appreciated, Edward. The issue is still unresolved. I've tried a factory reset but still no joy. One curious note: Google home eventually shows an extra disconnected point in my home network. I assume that is the extra router showing up. So, it does register in my home network that I am trying to join. If I agree to join the new router's network, it just gets confused and says that there is no internet connection. Strange. Thank you for any ideas you might have.

Hi lannydindau,

Thanks for the reply. I'd love to know more about this. What is the light status of your Google Wifi point when you try to set it up? Also, are you getting any option to set up a point instead of a router?

Thanks,

Edward
