Turn off DHCP IP assignment for clients?

Is it possible to turn off DHCP assignment to clients using Google Wifi, or in the new Nest Pro? And use another device to serve DHCP?

Hello @jjgfromnj

Officially, no. Unofficially, you can probably get close to being able to do that by limiting the size of the DHCP address pool to a single address. However, that means one device in your network will still likely get assigned that address by Google/Nest WiFi. To make that at least consistent, you'd want to reserve that IP address assignment so that device is always the one that gets it. All of that said, I don't recommend trying to do this in general. Google/Nest WiFi is intended to be easy to use – it may not be as flexible as some users would prefer.

Hi Michael! I saw your previous comment in a locked thread about google wifi and Nest thermostats not playing well together. I couldn’t message you there because of it being locked. I would love your advice. Thank you so much!

Hello @blake85willard

Just create a new thread here in the forum with your question. Feel free to tag me using @MichaelP in your initial message and I'll see it. I would recommend editing your message above to remove your personal email address, too – this is a public forum.
