Unable to set up Google Nest Wifi via Google Home app

I'm currently unable to complete set up for the new Google Nest Wifi router, using the Google Home app on my Android phone.  Followed all the steps from Google Home app but it kept asking me to reset the modem by switching it of, wait 90 seconds then switch it on again.  Tried that then clicked next but the whole process started from the beginning until I am asked to reset again...  Looks like it looping.  Tried many times and again after factory reset but got same result.  Can anyone help please?

Just a little more info on the steps I took for the set up as per instructed by the app.

1. Downloaded Google Home app and signed in with my account

2. Powered up Google Nest Wifi router and connected to the internet provider's unit with the ethernet cable provided

3. Access Google Home app

4. Add new device and selected Google Nest Wifi

5. The app went through the set up process then asking for modem to be reset

6. Reset modem then click through to next screen

7. App repeated step 5 (as oppose to getting through to option to name the wifi network and set password)

What kind of ISP modem is it? Are you sure it's modem-only and not some kind of WiFi gateway/router combo or the like? I wonder if there's something in the WAN connection that the Nest router doesn't like.

Hi, Luan.

Sorry for the frustration you're having with the Home app and trying to get your devices set up properly. As we've transitioned from the WiFi app into the Home app for the WiFi network management, it's been a little shaky. Updates are coming out regularly, and things are rapidly improving, however.

One thing I did want to ask is if you had another device in your home, such as a tablet or another Android phone, where you could sign into your account and try setup from there. If that's not possible, let me know and we can look at other things.

ss66, I'm sorry that we weren't able to get things working for you. If you still have your devices, do you mind telling me what platform you're using for setup (iOS or Android)? We have seen some bugs on the iOS side and you might be affected by that.

I look forward to hearing back from you all so we can continue working on this. Thanks.

Hey, Luan.

I’m just checking in real quick to see if we needed anything else here or if we were able to resolve the problem. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do here.

Thanks

Hi, everyone.

As we haven't had any activity here recently I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. If you have more to add, feel free to start a new discussion.

Thanks

I am having the same problem.  That's why I'm on here looking.  I have a straight up modem that I use other routers with.  It works fine with three other wifi routers I have.  Google says "no Internet" and loops me through the setup process endlessly.  I'm sending them back.
