Unsure if new wifi point working.

I have had google wifi for a while. The wifi connection to my Samsung TV always worked but it buffered a lot. So tonight I successfully added an additional wifi point which google home says ‘has a great connection’. The new connection is in between my router and the TV, but closer to the TV. Since adding the additional wifi point the internet on my TV won’t work at all. How do I know if the TV is connected to the new point?  I was expecting to see an additional wifi entry in my available networks, like when a wifi extender is added, but I’m guessing wifi mesh works differently and that’s as intended?
So my TV says it is connected to the wired version of my network, so why is not working? Thanks for any advice.

Have you tried to restart the Nest Wifi network from inside the Google Home app?

  • Google Home -> Wi-Fi (icon) -> Network settings -> Restart entire network.

Have you tried to forget the Wi-Fi settings on your TV and connect it to your Wi-Fi again?

"How do I know if the TV is connected to the new point?"?

  • Google Home app -> Wi-Fi (icon) -> Devices -> Your TV. There it should say "Point".

I don't work for Google.

Thank you so much for something so simple that I should have tried. I had tried forgetting the network on my TV prior to my post, which didn’t work,  but I because Google Home had reported the new wifi point was working properly I had not tried resetting the network. That fixed it right away. I feel really silly that I didn’t consider that option myself. Thanks again and it works way better than before I added the extra wifi point. 😄💕

Hi and thanks for asking. Actually the initial problem keeps happening. The second time it happened I was able to restart just the wifi point and it fixed the situation. This time I tried everything, restarting network, the wifi point, resetting tv to wired and back again. But the point is this shouldn’t be happening. It’s really frustrating, especially as the google assistant engages with me so there has to be internet to it but none of the devices say they are connected to the point in Google Home.

Actually it seems the app may have altered a bit. If I tap on the TV in question it indicates it is connected to the main wifi and not the wifi point. Hence the lack of connection, things won’t load properly and time out. Firstly is there a way to change where it connects? Secondly is it possible the wifi point is malfunctioning because it is faulty?

Update: overnight my Foxtel box (Australian cable supplier) and two sound devices have changed to the wifi point. However the TV is still utilising the main wifi point and connection is therefore weak. Is there a way to change the wifi point it joins?
