I am looking at setting up a vpn for my network and I know nest wifi doesn’t support vpn protocols. I’m looking for a router I can install vpn on it and not loose any speed but also not breaking the bank. The router will not be connected for wifi use. It will just strictly be for the vpn. Anyone have any suggestions?

I forgot to mention this could be for any platform not iOS exclusively

Hi, Gumbiejay.
Thanks for dropping into the community. I personally don't have any info on a router to use for VPN purposes, but I'm hoping someone will be able to chime in. So here's a little attention bump to see if anyone has any input on this. Hopefully you find a good solution!
Thanks.

Thanks for the input, awp. That's definitely helpful.
As for Spotify and the VPN, I'll do some looking into that to find out if that's a Spotify or a Google limitation. If there's a way to improve that, I would love to push that internally.
Thanks!

Hi again, awp.
So I looked into this a bit deeper and the VPN not playing nicely is a known issue, but it's on the Spotify side. Spotify only supports some locations, so you'll need to ensure your VPN's chosen location lines up with Spotify's accepted regions. Let me know if you have more you need on this.
Thanks.

No worries, Gumbiejay. I just want to make sure we don't close a thread where you're still looking for some input. Thanks for hanging in there.

Good and bad news. I have a Firewalla Gold that I’ve set up between my modem and wifi routers. I have ExpressVPN and then integrate it there. Fast, seamless with my wifi and home wide VPN. I love it. There are a few services however that actively block VPN IPs. It’s not a matter of supporting any protocols or extensions, it’s just internet. I’ve found that Spotify and Nest simply don’t work if I’m at a VPN IP. Incredibly frustrating. All that to say, Firewalla is a great setup, but the services have shady privacy policies and may break them.

Hoping you can educate me; how do these services know that you're using a VPN? Is it just because it's encrypted, that doesn't seem likely because it could just be an https connection, no?
Any insight is appreciated and I sincerely appreciate your time.
