Why is my Google Nest Wifi Point listed in my Home app but I can't run a mesh network test?

I looks like the wifi point is just a speaker and not a wifi point. What am I missing?

Hi, @wreade!

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm truly sorry that a network test cannot be performed on the Nest Wifi Point listed in the Google Home app. I'm here to help.

To troubleshoot effectively, please answer the following questions:

  • How many points do you have in the same network?
  • When did this inconvenience start?
  • What's the color of the light on the Wi-Fi device?
  • Does the device show as offline or online in the Google Home app?
  • Were there any recent changes on the network? For example, a move to a different location, a new Internet Service Provider (ISP), or a new modem or router.
  • Please also share a picture of any error messages you are receiving in the Google Home app.

In the meantime, please perform a two-minute power cycle of the point, router, and modem:

  • Disconnect the modem from its power source.
  • Unplug the Ethernet cable and the power cord from the parent point.
  • Remove the power cord from the child point.
  • Leave everything unplugged for two minutes.
  • Start a timer to track.
  • Check the make and model of the modem to ensure there isn't a backup battery. If there is a backup battery, remove it; otherwise, the power cycle will not be effective.
  • Connect the power cable to the modem and allow the modem to fully power on before proceeding. This process can take up to a minute.
  • All light indicators should be solid.
  • Connect the Ethernet cable, then the power cable, to the parent point. Wait until the modem is fully back online.
  • Connect the power cable to the child point(s).
  • Repeat this step twice, and please share a screenshot in case you get any error messages.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Ana
