Wi-Fi Router and extender issue

Tigger888

I did a factory reset of my Google Wi-Fi router and 2 extenders. When I tried to set them up again the second extender is labeled as the router.  The main unit is connected to the cable model and the other 2 extenders are just plugged into the wall.  Does it matter what the label says in Google Home? It seems like the main one connected to the modem, the one I set up first should be labeled as the router. Any advice on this is appreciated.  -Susan

Sure you haven't just mislabeled them? 🙂

If you go to Wi-Fi (icon) -> Points, click the router, then settings (icon), what LAN IP does it say it has? Should be 192.168.86.1 by default.

I don't work for Google.

The LAN IP address says 192.168.86.29 for that point. What does that mean?

So the one that the Google Home app says is the router, not the point, does not have .1 as LAN IP?

Correct. My setup has 1 router and 2 points. The one labeled Router ends in .29 but is not the one directly connected to the modem. The one connected to the modem ends in .1 and the other point ends in .24.

Hi folks,

@olavrb, thanks for the help!

@Tigger888, thanks for reaching out. Based on your description, it looks like the router is just mislabeled. Could you share a screenshot of your Google Home app so we can investigate further?

Thanks,

Edward

The one that I want to be the router does have .1 at the end so maybe you’re right? They could be mislabeled.
