Hi, liord4.

Sorry about the missing settings icons in your Home app. I know it's frustrating when you can't access your settings properly. I have a few things you can try to restore that setting icon.

  • Try clearing the cache from your app.
  • If clearing the cache doesn't work, try deleting the app and installing it again (your previous settings will be in place once you log in).
  • Reset your connection to cloud services. The steps for that are below.

Open the Google Home app.
Tap the WiFi icon.
Tap Settings.
Select Privacy settings.
Toggle Nest WiFi cloud services OFF and wait for 30 seconds, then back ON.
Once done, close the Home app and perform a full network restart to ensure that the new settings are in place. To do this, I would recommend doing a power cycle on your network.
Disconnect the power adapter and the Ethernet cable from the Nest WiFi router.
Disconnect the power adapter from the Nest WiFi points.
Disconnect the power adapter from the modem. Allow all devices to stay disconnected from the power for 5 minutes.
Connect the power back to the modem only and wait for it to fully back up. All lights should be lit up before moving to the next step.
After the modem is back online, connect the Ethernet cable back to Nest WiFi router's WAN port (globe symbol port).
Connect the power back to the Nest WiFi router and to the Nest WiFi points. Wait until they're all fully back on.

After you have run through these suggestions, if you don't have any success, please let me know.

Thanks,

- Jeff

Thanks for the help Jeff,

1. Clearing cache didn't work.

2. RE installation of Home app didn't work.

3. Reset cloud connection - Can't be done since the issue - there is no WIFI icon

Thanks a lot for the help

Hi, liord4.

I'm sorry for the delay on answers here. I have checked with an internal team for some help, but I imagine with the holiday that things are running a bit slower than usual. I'll update as soon as I learn anything that can help.

Thanks,

- Jeff

Thanks Jeff.

I need to get into this settings since I can't reach live mode at all, and I saw the solution might be from this settings.

Thanks,

Lior

Sounds good, liord4.

If you get a chance to give that a try, let me know if it doesn't prove to be the trick. I'll be happy to keep looking into things with you.

Thanks,

I'll have a chance AFTER I'll have access to WiFi icon.

Right now I can't access to live video, which means all Nest features isn't working, such as talking to the currier and watch live what happens

Hi again liord4,

The Google Home app just saw a recent update and I wanted to follow up with you to see if it resolved the issue of the missing WiFi coin in your settings? If not, let me know and let's keep looking at what we can do to resolve that for you.

Thanks,

Jeff

Thank you very much for updating me.

I've just updated it and unfortunately I still don't see the wifi icon.

Thanks,

Lior

Really?   One of the steps is to "Tap the Wifi Icon" when the root problem is that the Wifi Icon is missing.  That makes no sense.

Exactly hhhhh

Hi everyone,

For those seeing this issue, is there a way you can try logging into the Home app on a different device (a tablet, backup smartphone, etc.) that you own or one that you could borrow temporarily? If the icon is missing on the second device, that points to a larger issue than something that might be happening with your primary device and a compatibility bug of sorts. Let me know if that's something you can try and what happens when you log in.

Thanks,

Jeff

We have 3 phones in our household.

One is brand new and I logged into Google Home on it for the first time ever today.
None of the phones show the WiFi icon.

Hey folks,

Thanks for posting.

@SirBuck, thanks for the help, and I’m glad that you were able to see the Wifi icon on your Home app.

@JimmyB8364, you can change your Google Wifi’s network name and password on the app.

@liord4, have you had the chance to factory reset your network as suggested above? Make sure to use the same network name and password so your devices can reconnect back once setup is finished.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

Mel

Mel,

Good Morning !

Unfortunately I cannot change my google Wifi Network name in the app as the app does not display the WiFi icon.  This is the whole premise for this thread.  No Wifi Icon.

I've rebooted the entire network.  No solution.  No Wifi Icon.

So, the root of the problem is No Wifi Icon.

Ironically, the name of my Google Home, reverted to a name I had used 2+ years ago.  So that is interesting.  Yet, there is still No Wifi Icon.

Google's attempt at simplification is missing badly as there is No Wifi Icon.

Hey there,

@JimmyB8364, thanks for clarifying. Were you able to check if your Home app is signed in to the correct email address? If so, manually factory reset your Google Wifi devices and set them back up using the same network name and password.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Mel

I agree! I've reset everything except to wipe out the wifi mesh system. Because if I wipe it out and there is still no access to the wifi in the home app, I've lost it all and the wifi is working I just can't access it

Hi everyone,

Checking in to see if you still need assistance with this. Hope the previous post helped. Let us know if you have additional questions ― we'd love to help.

Best,
Mel

There was no helpful post on this forum, other than those that referred to resetting the devices to factory defaults.  Google has failed by preventing the Wi-Fi Icon from going away and they failed even more by not having a solution to recover it short of the factory default option.

Hi SirBuck,

I'm sorry you feel that way. I suggest we wait for an update for your Google Home app ― we do not have any news to share for the update roll-out. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback.

I also suggest that you send feedback by following this link. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns as we'd love to help.

Best,

Mel

Hey SirBuck,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Please let me know if you are still having any concerns or questions from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Thanks,
Mel

Dear all, I would like to introduce myself to you.

Is there any way to resolve the issue before I attempt to reset everything?

* I saw this in another (locked) thread that looked interesting

Many thanks

déjà vu

No Wi-Fi icon on Google Home too on both my wife and my Google Pixels (6 Pro and 6).

I have done all the crap suggested.  I have deleted the app and reinstalled it.  I have power cycled the mesh network router.  Our phones have the latest and greatest updates.  I've cleared app storage and cache.  In the past, the Wi-Fi icon was there and worked great on both of our phones.  We have changed NOTHING, and the icon disappeared.  If I have a mesh system that I cannot manage, I might as well trash it and buy another brand.  Any suggestions on which brand would be a good Google mesh replacement?  And I don't take this lightly because I have 31 home automation devices on this network and when I change the network hardware to another brand, I will have lost about 4-6 hours of my time setting up all 31 devices up on the new network.  Grrrr.  Screenshot_20220821-072215.png

I don't think the icon disappearance is mesh related.

* I have the Asus AX88U+AX92U in mesh. The 92u added after the problem appeared and nothing was changed.

Looks like Google ignores her costumers...

I'm using the Doorbell for 3 months now without access to the live feed...

Yes, but if I have another brand then at least I will be able to manage it with their method.  Right now, I cannot change the Google Wi-Fi password or disable the Guest Wi-Fi.

I have lost enough time waiting on Google to fix this while trying to find a workaround to restore the Wi-Fi icon.
As a last resort, I reset my entire Google Mesh Wi-Fi system to factory defaults and restored connectivity with 8 Apps and 33 Wi-Fi devices including 25 lights, 3 locks, a thermostat, a security system, a ceiling fan, and two wall switches.  That whole routine to rebuild and testing all routines cost me 4 hours of my life.
But I have my Wi-Fi icon back and I was able to implement the changes that I wanted to make when it was missing.
Seriously Google, FIND A FREAK'N FIX FOR THIS INSTEAD OF FORCING US TO DEEP DIVE INTO A MAJOR RESET!

I am in the same boat (up the creek w/o a paddle).  It would be funny if it weren't such a hassle.

In trying to "simplify" interfaces, Google has missed badly.  Any issue results in only frustration.  I do not have a Wifi Icon on my Google Home App.  The WIFI hardware is all Google Mesh.  Currently preparing to add another 8 smart switches and do not want to do this until I can make changes to the WIFI name and password.

I now have two SSIDs in our home.  One is now considered the main SSID that I use for smartphones, laptops, and printers.  This SSID comes from my AT&T Gateway device.  The other, the Google Mesh, SSID is used only for Smart-Home Automation devices.  The Smart Devices are primarily controlled by their respective App and then the App is married to Google Home.  So, from now on, if I need to reset Google Home to fix "issues" I simply remove the apps from Google Home and then reset Google Home.  Then I remarry each of the Apps to Google Home and the system is completely redone.  It is far more hassle to remarry each of the 40 Wi-Fi devices to Google Home than to simply remarry 8 Apps.
